About the position

What you'll do

As an Engineer at Jälle Technologies, you will play a hands-on role in building and scaling up the technologies that turn battery waste into valuable raw materials:

  • Design, build, and test components of our pilot production line for lithium recovery and rGO production.

  • Collaborate with scientists and engineers to scale up lab processes into continuous-flow operations.

  • Select and integrate equipment for thermal, mechanical, and chemical treatment stages.

  • Troubleshoot technical issues and optimize process parameters for performance, safety, and cost.

  • Support installation, commissioning, and operation of new process equipment.

  • Ensure that all systems meet environmental, health, and safety standards.

What we're looking for

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related field.

  • Hands-on experience with prototyping, equipment integration, or process scale-up.

  • Comfortable working in a lab/pilot production environment.

  • Familiarity with reactors, pumps, filtration systems, or high-temperature processing.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; detail-oriented and pragmatic.

  • Proficient in English; Estonian is a plus.

Nice-to-have

  • Previous experience in cleantech, battery recycling, or chemical manufacturing.

  • CAD and process simulation skills (e.g., SolidWorks, COMSOL, Aspen Plus).

  • Knowledge of corrosive materials handling and safety design.

What we offer

  • A rare chance to help build pioneering clean technologies from the ground up.

  • Work on real hardware solving real sustainability problems in a fast-moving environment.

  • Competitive salary in a purpose-driven startup.

  • A supportive team of scientists, engineers, and entrepreneurs.

  • The opportunity to shape the technical backbone of Europe’s circular battery economy.

Jälle Technologies is on a mission to transform battery waste into next-generation materials. We’re developing breakthrough solutions to recover critical metals and upcycle battery waste from used lithium-ion batteries into a material with game-changing applications in energy storage, electronics, coatings, and more.

Backed by deep scientific expertise, grant funding, and initial industry partnerships, we’re scaling our lab innovations into an industrial reality.
