Jälle Technologies Secures Highly Competitive €1 Million EIS Applied Research Programme Grant to Advance Battery Recycling Innovation
Jälle Technologies is proud to announce it has been awarded €1 million in highly competitive funding from Enterprise Estonia’s Applied Research Programme (RUP). This significant grant—awarded through a rigorous evaluation process—recognizes the strong technological promise and societal importance of Jälle Technologies’ mission to transform battery waste into valuable, reusable resources that support a circular economy and reduce environmental impact.
The project aims to develop and validate efficient chemical processes for recycling battery waste at lab scale, establish optimized protocols for high yield and resource efficiency, and design and construct a fully operational pilot line. The funding will support the development and testing of this pilot system to demonstrate process efficiency, consistency, and industrial scalability.
Expected results include an operational pilot line capable of significant production scale-up, a proven and reproducible recycling process, improved strategies for reagent reuse to enhance sustainability, and the production of consistent, high-quality material for industry use. This project will strengthen local expertise, support Estonia’s leadership in sustainable technologies, and help Europe move toward greater resource independence.
Erki Ani, CEO of Jälle Technologies, said:
“This grant is a strong vote of confidence in our vision and team. Securing such competitive funding demonstrates real belief in our approach to tackling battery waste and critical material recovery. It gives us the resources to make a major leap toward delivering solutions that keep materials in circulation and support a truly circular economy.”
Kerli Liivand, Chief Technology Officer, added:
“We’re excited to scale up our research and turn it into practical, industry-ready solutions. This funding will help us optimize our processes, build our pilot line, and show that sustainable, high-quality recycling can be a reality.”
