Norrsken Foundation Backs Jälle Technologies as First Estonian Deeptech Investment

18. aug 2025

Backed by Norrsken Evolve’s €57M fund, Jälle Technologies joins 12 impact startups selected from over 3000 applicants

We’re proud to share that Norrsken, the Europe’s most prominent early-stage impact investors, has joined our €2 million pre-seed round—marking their first-ever investment in an Estonian deeptech company.

Norrsken is known for supporting ambitious founders who use scalable technology to solve the world’s most urgent problems. Their decision to back Jälle underscores the growing recognition of battery recycling as a critical pillar of climate innovation and validates the deep scientific work our team has been building for years.

Alongside the investment, Jälle has been selected for the Norrsken Evolve (formerly Norrsken Accelerator), a program designed for high-potential early-stage startups solving global challenges. From over 3,000 applicants worldwide, just 12 teams were selected for the latest cohort. The program brings access to hands-on support, global networks, and a €57 million fund dedicated to science-led impact.

What impressed us most about Jälle is the rare combination of deep scientific expertise and practical execution,” said Rebecka Löthman Ryda, General Partner at Norrsken Evolve. “This is exactly the kind of technical depth and conviction needed to scale meaningful impact. We’re proud to support a team that’s building not just a product but an entirely new link between battery waste and next-generation materials.

The timing could not be more important. With battery waste volumes expected to rise dramatically and regulatory pressure mounting, Europe urgently needs technologies that can recover key materials locally and reduce dependence on raw imports. Jälle is developing precisely this kind of solution—recovering lithium, cobalt, and nickel at high efficiency, and upcycling waste graphite into valuable graphene-like carbon materials for next-generation applications.

For us, this partnership isn’t just about funding. It’s about aligning with people and organizations who believe that science-led innovation can drive real-world change. We’re thrilled to welcome Norrsken on board and to represent Estonia among a new wave of European deeptech startups with global ambitions.
