A high-level visit spotlighting how circular economy innovation can become Europe’s next industrial success story
We were honored to welcome European Commissioner for Environment, Water Resilience and a Competitive Circular Economy, Jessika Roswall, to the Jälle Technologies office and laboratory in Tallinn.
The visit sparked an inspiring and forward-looking discussion on how Europe can turn its circular economy ambitions into real industrial success stories.

At Jälle, we are working on one of the missing pieces in the battery value chain: transforming graphite-rich waste from battery recycling into high-value graphene-like materials. Today, a significant share of battery mass is still lost in the recycling process—not because it lacks value, but because viable solutions have been missing.
This is where Europe’s opportunity lies.
As highlighted during the discussion, achieving more ambitious climate policy requires more companies that can demonstrate success in practice. Especially in smaller economies, strong examples of clean industry are essential to shift the narrative—from cost and constraint to opportunity and growth.

We also explored several important questions shaping the future of the circular economy in Europe:
How can circular economy regulation better support high-value secondary materials?
How can access to EU funding instruments be improved for SMEs?
How can we strengthen entire value chains, not just individual projects?
Because ultimately, the transition will be driven by companies that can turn waste into value—and by policy frameworks that enable them to scale.
Our work is part of a broader shift toward sustainable materials innovation. As outlined in our recent program participation, we transform discarded graphite into high-value 2D graphene-like materials, enabling applications across energy storage, electronics, and advanced materials.
